Affordable Clothing Brands for College Students

By Amanda Cohen on September 13, 2018

Even though school has been back in session for a week or more (depending on the school), does not mean you are done adding the final touches to your first semester of college. You probably still have textbooks, school supplies, decorations, and pictures to buy. However, you cannot forget one of the most important things to add to your list: clothing. As I say this, you are probably rolling your eyes at me and screaming at your computer saying, “Amanda! I was just forced to buy a $200 textbook… how do you expect me to care about adding more items to my wardrobe?”

There are plenty of college-budget-friendly clothing brands that will have people coming up to you asking where you purchased your new “designer” clothes. I’m not saying to go on a $1,000 shopping spree, but you’ve made it through your classes for about a week already, I think you deserve to treat yourself to something nice. So, here are some affordable clothing brands that you will look amazing in!

Boohoo

Boohoo is a great website for just about everything, but it’s especially great for going out outfits. From bodysuits to crop tops to cute bottoms, you can’t go wrong with most of the items on this website. They constantly offer promotional deals, sales, and always offer free returns on all orders. The free returns in unreal because, if you haven’t shopped here before, you probably don’t know what size you are in much of the clothing. Therefore, you have the luxury to order two sizes of an item and returning the incorrect size after you try everything in your package on. They have both men and women’s clothing, so, bottom line, Boohoo is affordable and caters to a plethora of people.

Tobi

The beauty of Tobi is that it does sales and promotional deals “in reverse.” What I mean by this is that instead of waiting for new items to sell out of most sizes before going on sale, they mark their new items down 25%-50% right when they get the next inventory on their website. I can personally say that I’ve spent my fair share of money on Tobi, and I’ve been satisfied 97% of the time. Whether you need a dress for a date party, or a sweater for the Fall, or a fun and flirty outfit for your upcoming bar night or frat party, Tobi will not disappoint. If you’ve never shopped on Tobi before, you get 50% off your first order. All customers, returning and new, get free returns within ten days of the order being purchased. Tobi is always throwing great deals our way, so take advantage of them ASAP.

Zara

Zara truly is a college woman’s best friend. They have everything… I usually say they are a more upscale Forever 21, while still offering the same low prices. You can buy everything here… from your chill day attire, to your class clothes, to your family dinner outfit, and more. Not only can you go online and buy your clothes, but they have stores in so many different locations (even abroad locations), so you never have to let your Zara obsession come to a standstill. Amazing prices, great quality clothing, and staying in touch with the hottest, latest trends, what more can you ask for from a clothing brand? Nothing… absolutely nothing. Oh, wait there is one thing! Zara, open up more stores, please!

Fashion Nova

You may not think Fashion Nova is affordable, considering many celebrities wear outfits from this brand, but it is and it is going to become your new favorite brand. If you want to hit the street the same way Kendall Jenner hits the runway, you need to hit up Fashion Nova. Even though this website is often used for bodycon dresses, they sell t-shirts, blouses, pants, activewear, accessories, and more. Another great thing about this brand is that it features models with different body types from most websites… I don’t know about you, but good prices, cute clothes, and championing for body positivity? Sign me up! Oh, not to mention Cardi B wears their clothes… I think I’ve said enough to prove my point.

After reading this you can do one of two options. First, you can stay cozy on a Sunday afternoon and shop online. Or, second, you can locate your nearest Zara store and begin your shopping spree. There is no third option… I’ve given you the tools and now you need to use them. There are plenty of other websites/clothing brands out there that offer similar benefits to the websites above, here is a list:

  • H&M
  • Lulu’s
  • Asos
  • Forever 21
  • Pretty Little Thing

To all of my fellow fashionistas on a budget, I dedicate this article to you! Happy shopping to all of my readers!
